Safeguarding

We Take Safeguarding Seriously

We all have a shared responsibility for keeping children safe from any kind of harm. Please take a look at our safeguarding display boards at each of our entrances. Please visit the 'policies' page of this website to access our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

You should immediately contact one of our trained Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) on 0121 675 3065 if a child is being harmed or is at risk of being harmed or if you receive a disclosure from a child. The staff members to be contacted are:

David Aldworth (Executive Head Teacher & DSL)
Louise Shepherd (Head of School & Lead DSL)
Sallyanne Bromley (Nursery Manager & Deputy DSL)
Maria Mackey (Qualified Teacher & Deputy DSL)
Margie Reuben (Senior Nursery Officer and Deputy DSL)

We check the background of all of our staff, volunteers and students via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to make sure that they are suitable to work with children. They are also required to provide work or professional references. Our staff regularly receive safeguarding and paediatric first aid training.

We follow our Safeguarding Policy and the policies and procedures from Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) which includes the government's PREVENT strategy (2011).

Please note that we are only able to release a child into the care of a suitable, authorised adult (no less than 16 years of age). When we have reason to believe adults charged with this responsibility are not fit to collect a child for any reason, we will request an alternative adult attends. We may be required to liaise with other agencies (such as Health Professionals, Police and/or Children's Social Care Services) in order to ensure the safety and well-being of your child.

As part of our safeguarding procedures, please note that we do not permit the use of mobile phones, cameras or other recording devices on site.

If anything concerns you or worries you, please report it to us immediately on 0121 675 3065. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
